AMLuthiers is dedicated to the humanitarian work of coordinating donations of instruments, spare parts, and tools, whenever it results in training or work for luthiers.
The Band in Uganda
AMLuthiers recommends support for the Pearl of Africa Youth Brass Band in Uganda (serving needy children and youth with instrument and repair instruction). We will form the band when Allan has a job and his house is finished https://gofund.me/d1196a0e
Additionally, AMLuthiers is organizing donations of brass and percussion instruments and spare parts and tools for maintenance and repair, as well as teaching materials. They are being stored in Valencia, Spain. Our Vice President, Manuel Martin, is going to do training for the maintenance and repair of the instruments. We accept donations of instruments and money.
The project will provide means for the training of musicians and also for luthiers of musical instruments. Currently there is no formal instruction in musical instrument repair in any African country. The students of this course will have a career to support their families.
How you can help:
•Donate money to help with all aspects of education, food, housing, and career training... by card on the GoFundMe page.
•Donations of musical instruments, spare parts, tools, teaching materials. Write directly to Manuel Martín.
History
It was formed 20 years ago by Edrine Wasswa as The Happy Angels Youth Brass Band. In 2019 all 211 children were accepted by the state orphanage system, and Edrine retired. The Pearl of Africa Youth Brass Band was formed with Allan Kawalya. By the time Allan starts working in Uganda, we hope to have resources for new buildings and instruments to form a band to supplement the schools and also teach instrument repair.
During his apprenticeship in Chile, Allan continued to help band members with food, soap and sanitary needs. Every month we have expenses in Uganda.
DIMU Okuyamba ku Byuma bya Band Eli Abaana Uganda "Arts without Borders Corporation" with projects in Africa to train musical instrument technicians, and for musicians with instruments and vecas to study, and much, much more.We recognize the need to develop an infrastructure to support new luthiers such as: where to obtain tools and parts; handling, transportation and spare parts; and partnering with professionals dedicated to education for life. Instrument owners and musicians need to become more knowledgeable about their instruments and recognize the value of the services that make them possible.
AMLuthiers organizes donations of musical instruments, accessories and the parts and tools to repair them when it results in the training of technicians.
•Supports technicians with limited resources to become self-sufficient.
•Donations of instruments for bands and orchestras when it includes the training of technicians.
